یافته علمی جدید : چاقی منشا وراثتی دارد.

   

برای اولین بار یافته های علمی نشان داده‌اند که چاقی می تواند منشا وراثتی داشته باشد ونه آنگونه که قبلا تصور می‌شد، به علت پرخوری در سنین کودکی رخ دهد. 

دانشمندان دانشگاه کمبریج کشف کرده اند که انواع خاصی از جهش ژنتیکی در افرادی که از چاقی شدید رنج می برند باشد. 

دکتر صدف فروغی از دانشگاه کمبریج چنین گفته است که مطالعات اخیر نشان می دهند چاقی شدید یک موضوع پزشکی جدی است که نیاز به توجه ویژه دارد. شواهد فزاینده ای در دست هستند که نشان می دهد گونه های مختلفی از ژن ها باعث ایجاد محرک شدیدی برای خوردن می شوند. 

چاقی هم اکنون به عنوان یک مشکل عمومی در سلامت افراد در سراسر دنیا محسوب می شود. تقریبا یک چهارم کودکان بریتانیایی به عنوان چاق طبقه بندی شده اند که افزایش صد درصدی را در طول دهه اخیر نشان می دهد.

Childhood obesity linked to mutant gene

Childhood obesity could be caused by a genetic mutation, scientists at Cambridge University believe.

Findings show for the first time that the condition can be a genetic one, rather than the result of over feeding.  

The study could have a major impact on the decision of social services to take obese children into care where they believe they are being abused.  

Some of the children in the study had been on the at risk register because of fears they were being overfed. They have now been removed from the list.  

Scientists at Cambridge University found that certain types of genetic mutation were present in those suffering from severe obesity.   

"This is the first evidence that copy number variants have been linked to a metabolic condition such as obesity," said Dr Matt Hurles from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, one of the leaders of the study.  

Dr Sadaf Farooqi from Cambridge University added: "This study shows that severe obesity is a serious medical issue that deserves scientific investigation.  

"It adds to the growing weight of evidence that a wide range of genetic variants can produce a strong drive to eat.  

Obesity is now recognised as a major public health concern around the world. Nearly one in four children in the UK is now clinically classed as obese, the figure almost doubling over the last decade.
